Tobacco hornworm

Description:

This caterpillar is bright green with white stripes across. No "hair" except a pointy end at the tail. Its main food are solanaceaus plants, like tobacco or in this case, tomato.

Habitat:

Found mainly in he Gulf Coast, this caterpillar feeds only from solanaceaus plants and it is a big defoliator.
