Green horse fly

Chlorotabanus crepuscularis

Description:

The body is pale green with eyes and thorax that are yellowish green

Habitat:

It's the only green tabanid(horse and deer fly) in North America. Usually found in the soil at the edge of water and floating vegetation occasionally in forest soil.

Notes:

Size: about 18mm Season: mid-March to mid-September with its most activity ranging from May to mid-July (In Florida). Food: females feed on mammalian blood and if you are wondering your blood will do fine :P
