Lepisosteus oculatus
The gar has a dark golden or dark yellow base with light yellow lines crisscrossing the back and black spots on the bottom side.
This fish was seen along the edge of the channeled river that runs through Bray's Bayou in Houston, TX (30 masl).
I wasn't able to get very close and the water was really murky.
