Description:

Lives in the vicinity of the deposits of fresh, brackish and salt water. Frequents mangroves, swamps and trees near water and sometimes urban areas. He looks lonely and in small or large flocks. Flocks of juveniles usually remain separated from the flocks of adults. Find their livelihood by inserting the bill into dry land or under the water surface. Their diet consists of small crustaceans, insects, worms, small fish, and frogs. ------------------------------ Habita en las proximidades de los depósitos de agua dulce, salobre y salada. Frecuenta los manglares, pantanos y árboles próximos al agua y a veces zonas urbanas. Se le ve solitaria y en pequeñas o grandes bandadas. Las bandadas de juveniles usualmente se mantienen separadas de las bandadas de adultos. Busca su sustento insertando el pico dentro de la tierra seca o bajo la superficie del agua. Su dieta consiste en pequeños crustáceos, insectos, lombrices, pequeños peces, y ranas.

Habitat:

The American White Ibis is natural in the Americas. It is distributed from the southern United States and Mexico to Peru, Brazil, French Guyana, Guyana and Suriname. Also present in the Greater Antilles in the Caribbean and the Bahamas. It is found from sea level to 500 m elevation. ---------------------------- La Ibis Blanca Americana es natural de las Américas.
