New Holland Honeyeater

Phylidonyris novaehollandiae ssp. novaehollandiae)

Description:

In the Adelaide Hills this is the most commonly seen honeyeater in many areas. The bold black and white head plumage and yellow wing feathers makes it easy to recognise. The New Holland Honeyeater is common across much of southern Australia and eastern Tasmania. Five subspcecies are recognised, some of which are very localised. Phylidonyris is a small genus, with only two species in Australia - the New Holland Honeyeater and the White-cheeked Honeyeater (P.nigra).
