American Carrion Beetle

Necrophila americana

Description:

Family: Silphidae. Length: 12-22 mm. Pronotum is pale yellow/beige with a large black spot in the center. The Elytra is black with a yellow rear tip. Larvae and adults consume fly larvae and the larvae of other Carrion beetles.

Habitat:

Backyard. Lawn/woods edge on some bushes.
