Red Panda

Ailurus fulgens

Description:

Also called the lesser panda or red cat-bear. It is not related to the giant panda. The red panda is slightly larger than a domestic cat. It has reddish-brown fur with a large bushy tail. It feeds mainly on bamboo, but is omnivorous and also eats eggs, birds, insects, fruit and small mammals. It is mainly active from dusk to dawn.

Habitat:

Native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. They live in the rainy high altitude forest. They spend most of their time in trees.
