Mantid exuviae

Description:

Shed exoskeleton of a Mantid. Arthropods shed their hard external shell as they grow. That process is called ecdysis. The outside layer of the eyes also sheds. Another reason for shedding is metamorphosis.

Habitat:

Palm tree leaf below other trees in the backyard

Notes:

The only reason I know the species is this is the only one ever spotted in this area (so far).
