Eastern Collared Lizard (juvenile)

Crotaphytus collaris

Description:

Walking through the woods when my friends and I stumbled across this little guy. An eastern collared lizard. I couldn't believe my eyes when I caught him, because I always thought of the eastern collared lizard as more of a desert species, not a prairie one. This is a hatchling/juvenile. The adults are much more stunning in color.

Habitat:

Native to most of the Western US through the great plains all the way to midwest and into the desert states.
