io caterpillar

Description:

This caterpillar was 2-3 inches long and had green fern like spines all over it.

Habitat:

Protected Carolinian forest. The caterpillar was crossing the road that runs through the forested area where we live.

Notes:

This is the first sighting of one of these beauties. Glad I did not pick it up to help it across the road! I did not know that we have this kind of poisonous creature in southern Ontario.
