Hi Din! You have two different moths here. Picture 1 is a Tulip-tree Beauty, Epimecis hortaria: http://bugguide.net/node/view/564

Picure 2 is indeed a Carpenterworm Moth.

You should split them into two different spottings so we can enjoy both individually. Great finds!
