Meloe oil beetle

Description:

This oil beetle was about one and a half inches long and about a centimeter tall.

Notes:

When I saw this it was in the middle of the trail that I was hiking on and I didn't even know that it was a blister beetle and it didn't look like it had a stinger either. So I picked it up. All it did was wiggle its feet and, luckily for me, I didn't get sprayed.
