Interesting -- I just saw some of this (I'm from the PNW) and yours looks more purpley around the flowers! They're supposedly associated with conifers and certain kinds of beech trees.

This cool organism is actually a type of plant that has no chlorophyll. It lives off of fungus that grow around the roots of certain trees.
