Oriental Garden Lizard

Calotes versicolor

Description:

Typically lizard-like in appearance but can take on surrounding hues. In the first shot, it is easy to miss it.The second cropped shot shoes its assumed green colour. LONG tail.

Habitat:

Urban garden. Many butterflies fluttering nearby. I think it was hoping for a good breakfast

Notes:

It's head and half the body almost....becomes orange during breeding season. Contrary to local belief it does not suck the blood out of you by just by looking at you (or in any way, actually)...a harmless, non- poisonous little lizard that keeps our gardens pest free by eating insects. Usually infested with worms though as we found out during dissection classes.
