Thanks a lot for the comments and for caring about the details. In case it helps, this animal is a japanese "inoshishi" (like a wild boar) that lives in a forest on the edge of a town called Arashiya, Japan. this guy wandered about 50 yards down a paved part of a riverbed, but he is only a few yards outside of his "native habitat", technically speaking. I agree though that zoo and captive animals as well as domestic ones deserve their own category, or at least a box you could check.
also, i am new to the project so any tips on how best to navigate system and contribute more effectively would be appreciated. best regards.
Good question. I wasn't sure if this was an invasive animal or captive zoo specimen. If it's from a zoo I think we should use "other" for now and explain in notes. We might need a zoo category if submissions continue to grow. I think Keith was putting some of them in "pets" but that should be reserved for actual household and domesticated companions. Let me know what you think.
Hey Yasser, how are we categorizing zoo animals like the above piggy, since they are clearly not naturally linked in their current location to their natural habitat?
