Spotting

Description:

This snake looks a lot like a gopher or rattlesnake, but I know those aren't in western Washington. It is thick, with a broad head. Does NOT resemble a garter snake in any way. This snake was probably about 18 inches long and hiding in the rocks at the side of the road.

Most definitely a Garter Snake, but there are 3 species in Washington and I can't see this one well enough to say which one it is.
