Winged Sumac

Rhus copallina

Description:

R. copallina is a species of flowering plant in the cashew (Anacardiaceae) family. Also known as the flameleaf sumac, dwarf sumac, or shining sumac, this plant is large, growing up to 18 feet tall in some cases, and is found across eastern and southeastern USA. it gets its name "winged sumac" from the wing-like leaf strip that runs across the sides of the stem.
