Spotting

Description:

White and black about the size of a nickel with spikes on it's back

Habitat:

Water Maple tree

Notes:

I was mowing my yard and almost ran into the web. The only thing I can find suggest it's a jewel spider but they are normally found in Australia. What kind of spider is this?
