It doesn't look like a slime mold I'm familiar with. It does however make me thing of a "Jelly fungus". Tremella species in particular are quick to colonize dead trees. Look at Tremella aurantia (witches butter), and see what you think. http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Treme...
