Aw, he's very cute! @naturemer, oftentimes in a laboratory setting they will place a small tag in the ear of the animal to help identify it. It doesn't hurt them at all.

I had a feeling people would pick at it, yes it's a laboratory mouse with an ear tag. My favorite one.
