I agree it looks most like Nepenthes. Was it growing wild or in a garden?

I agree, they are pitcher plants... but that's a whole big group of plants! This one I've seen kept sold as an exotic house plants. I've also seen them in green houses at botanical gardens. I don't know the exact species, but it is not of the genus Sarracenia or Heliamphora. It is possibly from the old world genus of Nepenthes.
