Taeniaptera trivittata

Description:

Medium sized fly with an elongated body and very long legs. Front legs are dark with white on the tips. The fly waves these around, imitating wasp antennae. Wings are primarily dark with light banding.

Habitat:

Vegetation bordering temperate forest. Gardiner County Park, NY.
