Vulpes vulpes
I was out on walk on a cold winter morning when this fox appeared. It was looking for food and not afraid at all. It gave me plenty of time to take some pictures!
The Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) is the largest of the true foxes, as well as being the most geographically spread member of the Carnivora, being distributed across the entire northern hemisphere from the Arctic Circle to North Africa, Central America, and the steppes of Asia. Here in a mixture of open grass land, water and some trees in a Dutch National Park.
Eigenlijk ben ik er nooit geweest. Maar de volgende keer als ik naar NL terugkeer (woon nu in de VS), probeer ik misschien daarvoor tijd uit te trekken!
Never could have thought these pictures would generate such flow of comments when I was out in the cold shooting them. Being rewarded on ProjectNoah brings back the exitement of that same morning.
Thanks! @Yasser, I'll drop you an e-mail.
Hey Sebastiaan! What a big year for you on Project Noah! This photo received some great popularity during our Earth Week drive and is now also one of our honorable mentions for best wildlife photo of 2011. Please email me at yasser@projectnoah.org so we can send you another small gift! :) Looking forward to seeing more of your snaps in 2012!
Looking right into camera eye so brave so beautiful and so bold, but i think this boldness is taking there number down. Nice Capture... This should send a message of conservation.
I've just started a new mission on the Oostvaardersplassen in the Netherlands. It's a very interesting area and it's hard to believe that I'm the only one in Holland who went there for Project Noah.
Come on Dutchies, show me what you got!
WOW! You have a lot of fans! Add me to the bunch. Great photos! Thank you! I love insects and spiders, but this is a refreshing change.
@AmeliaGuo The funny thing is that it started with excitement when it was still meters away, but when it came closer and closer (up to 1,5 meters) it was not just excitement. In the end they are preditors with razor sharp teeth!
