Bobcat

Lynx Rufus

Description:

Friday night (8/1/14), on my way back to my campsite from the bathroom, I spotted a grayish cat-like creature with my headlamp. Thought nothing of it, maybe it was a stray from town. Somewhat (not much) larger than a house cat, but more muscular. Then saw these footprints the next morning on park loop road between the picnic area and otter cove. Suspect it to be a bobcat?

Habitat:

Between Fabbri picnic area and the bridge over Otter Cove, these footprints came out of a muddy drainage.

Notes:

The tracks I searched for online seemed to match what I found on the road

Thanks! I'll make those changes. This is brand new to me, so trying to figure it out as I go along. Seems like this will be fun!

Welcome to Project Noah! What a cool story! This is a great community and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

If you haven't done so already, please take a few minutes to read through the FAQ page: http://www.projectnoah.org/faq

Since you know the ID of the animal that created these prints, you should add the scientific name, Lynx rufus, to your spotting. Without the scientific name, the site considers your spotting as "unknown".

This would be a perfect spotting for the Signs of Wildlife mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/7208...

I hope this helps! Feel free to ask questions if you have any. Happy spotting!
