Southern Wild Senna

Senna marilandica

Description:

"Member of the pea family with pinnate leaf structure and dense flower clusters in the leaf axils in the upper part of the plant." I was sure I had found something invasive when I spotted these bright gold flowers and blue-green foliage so reminiscent of wisteria or trumpet vine. I was very pleased to learn it is a native wildflower.

Habitat:

Native to the Eastern US.

Notes:

Spotted near the overlook of Johns Mountain Wildlife Management Area
