Description:

Large (as a horse) deer with distinctive white rump and dark brown mane, the older bulls having very large antler racks. They travel in herds, unlike the mule deer around them.

Habitat:

coastal temperate rain forest, preferring meadows but hiding in trees.

Notes:

Rare to see the calves so young; they usually hide out pretty well until full grown.
