Description:

Low to about 30 cm tall, flowers are terminal racemes on leafless stems with two spurs (the "breeches") which diverge. Leaves on long petioles from base of plant, decompound (more than once divided), fernlike, and bluish green.

Habitat:

Rich slopes of woods, bottomlands, stream sides, statewide (Missouri) except Southeast Lowlands.
