Giant Hogweed- young plant

Description:

Young giant hogweed plant. Can reach 8-10 feet tall full grown. Full grown plants have a large white flower at the top. DO NOT TOUCH THIS PLANT. It is an invasive plant from Asia, and if your skin comes in contact with the sap it can cause very severe burns. Larger plants have purple blotches on the stalk. I will post more pictures as they grow larger. In this section of the creek there is upwards of 100 individual plants in both sides of the creek.

Habitat:

Vernon, NY along Sconondoa Creek. They prefer wet areas to grow such as along waterways.

I think I saw that in my yard when it first started to grow and I mowed over it and havent seen it since luckily. Definetly a plant everyone should be aware of and watch out for!
