Pheasant size with long beak (4-5 inches) top notch feathers on head. Greenish legs.

Injured on side of road.

See if there's a wildlife rehab with a vet. If they get him in quick they can usually save them if their injuries aren't too bad - watch out for that beak during transport.

bitterns live throughout north america in fields and wetlands like most herons. Bitterns are very secretive though and hard to find.
