Eschscholzia californica
Drought hardy annual native to California. The leaves are thin and branched. Someone visiting my yard looked saw some seedlings and asked if they were parsely. Stems and leaves are a green that becomes more greyish as a sign of lack of water stress (grey coloring is a drought adaptation in many plants). Flowers are a golden orange in color and have four petals. Center of the flower looks like a spiky ball of stamens in the same orange as the petals. Flowers close at night and open in the day.
Garden
These self-seeded from plants I grew from seed last year. The original seed was purchased at a grocery store.
