Red Lionfish

Pterois volitans

Description:

This beautiful lionfish appeared on the reef, I think we'd wandered into his territory. I was frustrated I couldn't get a better photo, the current was strong so I had to use the zoom and the picture quality suffered!

Habitat:

Coral reefs

Notes:

Indigenous to the Indo-Pacific, but introduced to the Carribean with disastrous consequences

Thanks Luc! They are very spectacular, but also poisonous so definitely "look but don't touch"!

Oohh, how nice! Even if the quality "suffered" it is still an amazing shot. Great job!
