lion

Panthera leo

Description:

1. Make use of human. haha 2. Smelling the preys 3. Nervous wildebeests 4. Taken half an hour to give up (can't see the exciting scene...sad) Actually there were 5 females there, but others were stand by & trying to enclose wildebeests in other positions that I could not take good shoot of them. They were getting shield from tourists' cars (cause there are often more than 5 cars stop to watch lions...). But we guessed that there was wind breezing and the wildebeests smelt them, so they got close to each other to defense in the 3rd pics. & the lions finally gave up~~

Habitat:

Savanna, with trees preferred (mainly Acacia)

Notes:

IUCN: Vulnerable ....anyone one know why a lion has leopard pattern on her stomach?? @@

Great story! I have heard of this also, lions using vehicles to hide behind when hunting but I never saw this first hand. Not sure why they have the spots on their belly. Maybe they are not of much significance....
