Description:

The form of this spider is very much like the dorsal view in the linke with the four legs in a crouched position. I could not get a clear look at the ventral view to see if it had any spots because it was in the shade on a cloudy day. It is very hairy and has the banded legs. The markings on the dorsal view are not striking. I think it is a barn spider (neoscona crucifera) but I am not sure.

Habitat:

This spider wove a large beautiful orb web that covered an entire window of our school. It stayed like that all day and hardly budged even when the kids noticed it on the way in from recess. While this spider is nocturnal, it becomes diurnal in the fall.
