Bird-poop Caterpillar

Papilio polytes

Description:

Quite ickky-looking if you ask me...down to the glistening sheen of fresh bird poop...green...black and an artistic touch of white. Small blistery things on body. OK, not a fan of its looks BUT what wonderful camouflage.

Habitat:

In my garden. On a Curry-patta plant. (Murraya koenigii) The leaves are edible and aromatic.

Notes:

There were about six caterpillars. Different sizes. This one was the largest. second photo was taken on the 10th. The tinier ones are still bird-poop.

Quite a transformation Sukanya. I might even call it a change for the better, "nicer" even. :-) Thanks for sharing these.
