A slender brownish snake with dark brown blotches, generally 30-48 inches long.
In and near water.
These snakes are non-venomous and tend not to be aggressive.

The keeled scales and large head are making me think watersnake over kingsnake. But it's difficult to tell sometimes without having the animal in hand to check diagnostic markers.
