Yeah, this is a tough one. I thought I had some more leads but they didn't pan out. Needs more research.

Hey Dan - this flower just stumps me - the purple flower in the middle almost looks like a type of vetch. Not sure if the flower is short because of altitude either - I was at about 7000 ft or there abouts. I will check out your lead

Cynthia, while I was searching google images to try an ID a different spotting. I came across something that looked like this. I think it might be the rosette of a type of sow thistle. Sonchus sp.
