Round-leaved sundew

Drosera rotundifolia

Description:

Tiny carnivorous plant which traps insects with sticky droplet tipped hairs.

Habitat:

Poor soils, usually in acidic wet situations, but occasionally found in fairly dry soil.

Notes:

Often forms large patches. Flowers infrequently in this area (western Mass.).

I had surgery this winter and have been taking it very easy. I'll be more active by the time it starts to get warm.

Aww, thank you Emma. It's been a slow winter for me as far as nature spottings go. I'm really looking forward to spring arriving so I can get out and take more pictures.
