American Ginseng is a protected species in Massachusetts. Most of the wild ginseng in the eastern US was harvested and shipped to China by the late 1800's. Most cultivated American Ginseng is grown in Wisconsin.

No, I don't give locations for protected species, only approximate areas, and in the case of critically endangered species I hesitate to even give the town they're found in. This plant is part of a small population that had gone unrecorded until a couple of years ago.
