I'm thinking of the genus Epistrophe. Maybe Epistrophe melanostoma?

I've seen this one in two or three different places in Singapore. I'm surprised no one has taken a picture and positively identified it yet, at least not that I can find on the net by searching "diptera syrphidae hoverfly singapore". Will just keep searching... or waiting!

Looks like flies or Diptera, with only one pair of wings in the Family Syrphidae. (Wasps and bees have two pairs ).

I´d say too that this is some kind of hoverfly

Thanks Marta! I have never heard of a hover fly before! Thanks for being the first to follow my spottings!

I would say is a type of hover fly. I have a sighting that is a marmalade hover fly and looks alike, although my sighting is in Belgium and yours in Singapore so the species may be different.
