Cool, yeah I've never seen this kind of gall either! Lots of oak apple gall wasps near where I live, maybe I should share some photos some time! But these are definitely much neater than the ones I've seen. And Ashish is right, you can classify this under invertebrates instead of plants, Belle0716!
