gray squirrel, blue bottle flies

Sciurus carolinensis & Protophormia terraenovae

Description:

We´ve found this dead gray squirrel (about 30 cm) while our bike tour. Usually the gray squirrel isn´t common in this area, we use to see red squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris) Now if I think of it, we haven´t seen them for a while now... :(

Habitat:

woods, gardens

I think so, too :)

yeah! sad, but death means life, for other species...

What a pity.

well, it was quite big, a female, the trees weren´t big, young shrubs. I suppose it fell, or it could have had some kind of illness.

you have a good heart...maybe it is old age you think?

yeah, we did. it was in the middle of the biking track, we didn´t see any wounds, maybe it just fell...
