Oh, yes- cats frequently kill these- but do not eat them. Some research indicates they make the cats throw up if eaten, so they quickly learn not to eat- but make not be able to tell it isn't a mouse before killing-

This is not a mole at all; but a Short-Tailed Shrew. It's an easy mistake to make, since this shrew has fur exactly like a mole's, and very tiny eyes. But- look at the front feet, and over-all size. Mouse sized front feet - not like a mole. I'm suggesting it is the southern species based only on range-

I had the same problem! dead mole near the walkway to our house no idea how it got there. cat?
