Megachile sp. (rotunda? perihirta? frigida?)
this bee landed (at least I think this is a bee species), and held its tail upright - that looked so funny. such a twisted looking thing! solitary living bee

here another leaf cutter species - the small ones http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/654...
changed that - still not sure about subspecies
mmm, I don't think is the same specie of the picture, I sent you the link as one example of a Megachilid bee with the same behavior... Maybe you should just use de genus (Megachile sp.)
yeah, definitely! you nailed it Juan. Thanks so much!
I think that you are right Juan...
The last one I saw was much smaller, this one had the size of a normal honey bee.
Thanks!
this behavior is very common on this group of bees, you can see a picture here: http://www.azoresbioportal.angra.uac.pt/...
is a Megachilid bee, bee mimicking flies don't have a brush of hairs (Scopa) on the abdomen
somehow I get the weird idea, that the tail is twisted around...
or it is really a Megachilid sp...
I donno, help please!
updated foto - well blurry though, but I found a pic of the head of my twisted funny bee.
Megachilid bee doesn´t look like it... Bee mimic is most likely. a friend has a shot from the head
The flowers are beautiful and this is strange behavior for a bee. Maybe it's a bee mimic. http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/wasp_mimi...
This is a Megachilid bee. They carry pollen on the abdomen, not on the legs as most of the bees, that's why is curving the body.
hmm, that isn´t easy...
I think it could be some Pulicaria dysenterica, but those are too small.
It definitely is a Asteraceae - that I can tell - so far that´s my best guess
Please tell me the name of your flowers. They are so beautiful. That is strange Bee behavior!
anyone seen something similar?
