Description:

Small bumblebee, about 1/2 to 3/4 inches long with creamy white marking upper abdomen and far lower abdomen - otherwise all black.

Habitat:

Hay fields and edge of forest

Notes:

I sent a note to xerces.org re: questioning whether this is an endangered species the Franklin's bumblebee. I wont hear back until after the 1st oif August.

He is sleeping. It was about a half hour before dusk. I have noticed these guys sleep on their flower - as if they worked so hard they couldn't go back home

I wonder what he is interested in on the underside of the flower, or is he taking a rest from the sun?
