Africa Wild Dog

Lycaon pictus

Description:

African Wild Dogs are pack animals that are effective cooperative hunters. They are seriously endangered

Habitat:

Semi-desert, moist and dry Savannah, montane, grasslands and moorlands to high elevation.

Notes:

We were very excited to come upon six wild dogs resting in the shade on a very hot day. We were able to park within 10m of the group without disturbing them. A rare sighting, we watched them for nearly an hour without anyone else around.
