Urtricularia sp.
These mostly aquatic plants have tiny traps on their submerged leaves that capture small organisms and digest them. The third picture in the series also includes a small Dolomedes fishing spider and a bluish gray tiger beetle. Two tiger beetles can also be seen in the first picture.

It looks like a college town in Connecticut River valley. Sounds like a good place for wildlife viewing!
Oh yes. These photos and the ones of the waterlilies are from a large area that was colonized by beavers several years ago. But we have a lot of wetlands that have everything from rapidly flowing open water and shallow marshes to seasonal pools and streams in the woods.
So up north do you have a lot of water plants in the wild?
Thanks. These are particularly frustrating to photograph since you really have to get wet if you want a closeup shot. That's something I haven't done yet...
