Dendrelaphis sp.

Description:

A small Colubrid tree snake photographed at night on a bush of "snakeweed" (Stachytarpheta mutabilis).

Habitat:

Spotted in a large semi-urban yard/garden. There is an adjacent disturbed remnant patch of forest.

Notes:

My daughter (the photographer) said this snake was quite small, perhaps 30 cm long(?).

Thanks. Apparently the range of Dendrelaphis tristis does not include New Guinea. But it may be that genus.
