Description:

instar shedding, caterpillar hatched on 7/26/2011

Habitat:

egg laid and hatched outside on zoo grounds

Notes:

On tropical milkweed plant (plant was brought inside for viewing), butterfly will be released outside after metamorphose. This is the 2nd Queen generation that has occupied this plant in the last 2 months, before that there was a generation of Monarch.

had to move the caterpillar below it because it was trying to cannibalize the shedding one.
