Description:

As per the book on the flowers from valley of flowers this is a common flower for the heights of 1800-4000mtrs. The seed dispersal system of this plant is unique, ripened seeds burst out due to the surface tension and cause seed dispersal.

yeah Satyen - If I was there I would have wanted to see them too... But even then, I think my asthma would have killed me :( I´m looking forward for more spottings :)

Yes, Monkey mind, still more spottings to go. It was perfectly beautiful. If there exists a heaven on earth then it is in valley of flowers. Sorry, the great Himalayan blue poppies were growing at a height where we could not reach. I wanted to see them desperately. They are known as the queen of the Himalayan flowers.

Thanks monkey mind for clearing the doubt. There were many kinds of balsam around. Thanks Ashish, enjoyed the trek thoroughly. These were very common plants during the time we were there. The locals say that that every week the plants change. A week before our visit, it was rose time. Much to learn and to be explored out there.
