Prostrate sandmat

Euphorbia prostrata

Description:

Small green weed/plant acting as a ground cover. Tallest measured was 15cm tall although most is less than an inch. Has red/brown stalks and tiny pink flowers.

Habitat:

Non-native plant on a hillside in full sun near non-native ivy and non-native Bermuda Grass :(

Notice the hairs on the fruit which are not appressed and occur almost exclusively on the edges of the fruits. This differs from E. maculata which has hairs all over the fruit that are appressed.

euphorbia, or spurge. sounds like prostrate spurge: E. maculata. Is sap milky?
